Canada

Canada, is a land of rich diversity, encompassing urban sophistication and abundant nature and wildlife. It is safe yet also exciting; stable yet also filled with adventure. It features cutting-edge technology, inspiring cultural icons, and a vibrant society that is open to everyone. Canadians tend to be modern, welcoming, and open-minded.

Why Canada for Students

Canada is ranked #1 by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for higher education achievement—more than half of its citizens between the ages of 25 and 64 have a post-secondary education. The Times 2018–2019 World University Rankings placed nine Canadian universities in the top 200 (and four of these in the top 100). As well, Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s 2018 Academic Ranking of World Universities placed four Canadian institutions in its top 100, and 18 in the top 500.

 Benefits of studying in Canada

  •  Bilingual environment
  • Gain work experience in Canada after studies
  • Latest Technology
  •  Quality Education
  • Canada has a perfect blend of nature, technology, and culture
  •  Accessible Canadian student visa process

Part time Work Rights

On the Canadian student visa, students have the permission of working for 20 hours/week of a paid job. However this is the maximum number of hours, and students are free to work for a lesser number of hours. Usually, those students enrolled in difficult or intensive courses are recommended by the universities to work for a maximum of 12 hours a week. This is because working for more than this number can affect a student's performance in studies. So students can reduce the number of working hours if they feel they are unable to maintain a work-study-life balance.

Students can work in cafes, restaurants, and coffee shops; retail stores like clothing or sports goods stores; lifeguard or swimming instructor at a college swimming pool or beach; bookstores, library, etc. If a student is multilingual, they may work as a translator. As Canada is a multicultural society, the services of a translator are widely required.

It is important to note that even if students plan to work while studying in Canada, they will still need to demonstrate sufficient financial resources when they apply for a study permit.

Distance and Time Difference

The air travel (bird fly) shortest distance between Canada and India is 11,488 km= 7,138 miles. If you travel with an airplane (which has an average speed of 560 miles) from Canada to India, It takes 12.75 hours to arrive.

Canadian Education System

The Canadian education system offers three degrees: bachelor's, masters, and doctorate degrees. As an international student, you are welcome to complete all or part of your education in Canada. Like other countries, there are both public and private universities. Tuition fees for public universities average between 7,500 and 22,500 CAD per year, while tuition for private universities tends to be much higher. With few exceptions, degrees earned in Canada are internationally recognized.

A vast majority of degree programs in Canada are taught in English. Therefore, students from countries where English is not the native language will have to prove their English proficiency through either the TOEFL® or IELTS™. That being said, studying abroad in Canada is also a great way to improve your English language skills. Practice speaking with locals to perfect your skills while also making new, international friends. Plus, if you plan on staying in Canada after your studies, proficiency in English will definitely be a requirement.

Post Study Work Visa

Getting a Post-Graduation Work Permit while studying in Canada (called PGWP) depends a lot on your course and its duration. A work permit under the PGWP is usually issued for the length of the study program. The maximum length of the post-work permit is of three years. It means if your post-graduate course’s duration is two years, you get a three-year PGWP visa. The course duration must be a minimum of eight months in length.

The post-graduation work permit allows students to stay in Canada and gain work experience after completing their graduation. However, students must be graduated from a recognized Canadian institution. Graduates from certain designated learning institutions (DLIs) are eligible for a work permit.

The PGWP allows International students graduating from a participating post-secondary college/university to gain Canadian work experience. In the long run, Canadian work experience gained through PGWP helps international graduates qualify for PR (permanent residence) in Canada through Express Entry.
